Canvas
Log-in using Canvas every day to check the daily schedule, as links and updates change.
A student’s username is their unique identification number in the format StudentID#@students.k12.dc.us and the password is the student’s date of birth in the format MMDDYY.
Microsoft Teams
Live lessons occur for students on Microsoft Teams every day of the week, including Wednesdays for Specials classes. Teams links to classes can be found on the student’s daily schedule on Canvas.
Please have students navigate to live classes from the Canvas page each time, as links may be updated, to best ensure students are in the correct class at the correct moment.
Asynchronous learning
Teachers have included in their daily schedules recommendations for various supplemental learning applications in Clever students can explore, such as Lexia, iReady, Zearn, ST Math, Imagine Español, and more.
Students are expected to engage with these during available times in their school schedules during afternoons and Wednesdays. As with Canvas, a student’s username is their unique identification number in the format StudentID#@students.k12.dc.us and the password is the student’s date of birth in the format MMDDYY.
assignments
You may find assignments posted in Canvas, OneNote (Class Notebook) and Nearpod. We are working with DCPS to streamline how assignments and grades can be shared with families.
It’s OK if students struggle! They are learning something new. Please allow students to submit their best independent work and offer positive feedback and encouragement.
Assessments
Teachers and administrators will communicate with families when students have an assessment to complete, including its name, purpose, date/time, and steps to access the assessment.
As with assignments, it is crucial that we see students’ independent work, so we know what students have mastered and how to challenge them appropriately. Children learn and develop not only in different ways but also on different timelines, and assessments are a tool to better understanding unique student needs.
Attendance
We are tracking daily attendance and participation. Attendance is compulsory! Students must log-in using Canvas in order for their attendance to be recorded (including Wednesdays!).
Students must also participate in all parts of the day. Small group instruction and asynchronous learning occurring after 1 PM will factor into students’ grades.
