9:20 am - 10:00 am: Connecting with Your Inner Self: Mindfulness Techniques for the Mind, Body, and Soul Part 1

Presenter: Minds Inc.

Description: This seminar supports caregivers in exploring mindfulness as a tool to manage anxiety, uncertainty, and difficult emotions, highlighting active practices that are particularly helpful during challenging times, for example; mindfulness through music, sound, movement, and journaling

 

10:30 am - 11:30 am: Finding Joy, Calm, and Connection with Your Children

Presenter: Dr. Jessica Phillips-Silver of Inner-City Inner-Child

Description: We all know that we need to care for ourselves in order to care for our children, but sometimes we need new tools and information about why these tools work! In this session, Dr. Jessica Phillips-Silver will guide you through exercises in breathing, movement, and listening, and she will teach you about why those exercises are good for the brain and body. The best part is that all of the tools you will learn can be directly applied to children—she’ll teach you about what their brains and bodies need right now, and how meeting their needs can help you meet your own.

Description: Prepare an exciting meal together while learning about how to include healthy plant-based meals into your diet without breaking the bank

Description: Being stuck in the house doesn't have to mean that you can’t treat yourself to a well-deserved self-care experience.  Attend this workshop to learn how to create an amazing self-care experience at home using things that you can find around the house.

 

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm: Male Caregivers Matter Too!  Self-care for Men Who Care For Children

Panelists:  Stephen O'Connor, James Worthy, Eric Chapman, Ambus Harper, Felix Hernandez

Description:  Join National Fatherhood Expert James Worthy and members of the Department of Behavioral Health and Mary’s Center for an interactive discussion on self-care for male caregivers. Receive financial basics, fatherhood, and self-care tips especially designed for male caregivers
